The City of Shreveport (“City”), through its Department of Community Development, is currently accepting public facility proposals for funding consideration under the Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) for eligible governmental and nonprofit entities. These funds are allocated by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The CDBG program is authorized by the Housing and Community Development (HCD) Act of 1974. Regulations governing this program can be found at 24 CFR 570.
Acquisition and improvements of public facilities that promote a public benefit, such as homeless shelters, workforce development centers, healthcare facilities, centers for seniors, historic preservation properties, and other facilities that have significant public benefit will be considered for funding. Public facilities improvements may include: security lighting and cameras, greenspace development and other and improvements that have significant public benefit. Housing projects and requests for facility operating costs will not be eligible for consideration under this NOFA.
