Cold Weather Safety Reminders

  • Dress in layers and protect exposed skin
  •  Never light fires indoors or in enclosed areas — carbon monoxide can be deadly
  •  Be extremely cautious with space heaters and open flames
  •  Alcohol does NOT keep you warm — it thins the blood and increases the risk of hypothermia

Please use these local resources and check on friends, family, neighbors, and those without shelter.

Driving Safety Tips

  • Drive slowly, carefully and avoid driving while distracted
  • Allow for extra driving time
  • Reduce speeds when visibility is low
  • Make sure there is plenty of room between yours and other vehicles
  • Look out for black ice - a thin, transparent lay or ice accumulation that can be visually hard to detect on bridges, overpasses, off-ramps, and in shady spots.
