Pools & Aquatics Program

Shreveport Public Assembly & Recreation Pools
SPAR and Rock Solid Sports are joining forces to offer the SPAR Swim Club at designated SPAR public swimming pools. SPAR swim clubs will offer swimming, water aerobics, and swimming lessons. Five SPAR pools will be open to the public. The pools are Airport Park, Bill Cockrell, David Raines, Querbes, and Southern Hills.

SPAR also offers seven sprayground water play areas in the city that include Airport Park, David Raines, Hattie Perry, (closed for repairs), Lakeside (closed for repairs) and Querbes Community Centers, along with A.C. Steere and Riverview Park, (currently closed).  The spray parks have become very popular attractions, offering a respite from the sweltering Louisiana summer heat. The cool spray of the water lowers the body temperature and increases the enjoyment of a beautiful summer day. Use of the spraygrounds is free of charge.

The spraygrounds open May 1, and will operate from 8 AM to 8 PM, seven days a week. Riverview Park's sprayground operates from 7 AM to 1 AM, seven days a week (Riverview Park is temporarily closed). However, it has a wind sensor that shuts down the system if the winds get too high. Grab your bathing suit, visit one of our spraygrounds and cool off on a hot summer day with SPAR!   Water shoes are recommended.

2017 Swim Season - Pools open June 6th!

SPAR Pool Open Houses:

  • May 6, 11 AM to 1 PM, at Querbes Pool
  • May 13, 2 PM to 4 PM, at Southern Hills
  • May 20, 11 AM to 1 PM, at Airport Park Pool
  • May 21, 2 PM to 4 PM, at David Raines Pool
  • May 27, 11 AM to 1 PM, at Bill Cockrell Pool

SPAR pool open house activities will provide youth and adults an opportunity to meet the lifeguards for the upcoming summer season and tour the pool facility. Shreveport Fire Department will also conduct water safety demonstrations. Since May is National Water Safety month, the open houses are a great way to educate our community on the importance of pool safety as well as our upcoming swim season (including swimming lessons and water aerobics). We will also have bike safety training. The open houses are free and open to the public.
