  • Auxiliary officers must be willing to work special events and emergency call outs at anytime. They must be able to work in all kinds of weather and be able to stand on their feet for extended periods of time
  • Auxiliary officers are often the first responders to automobile accidents, and as such, they must be able to inform headquarters of the situation, request emergency medical services, and take charge of the scene until help arrives
  • Must be a citizen of the United States and reside in Louisiana. If applicant is active military, a letter of approval must be submitted and signed by the applicant's commanding officer
  • Must be a high school graduate or have an acceptable GED certificate
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must be willing and able to commit at least 96 hours per year to the program
  • Must not have a DWI conviction within the past 5 years, or 3 moving violations within the past 12 months, including any suspension or revocation violation
  • Must not have a felony history or committed any acts deemed to be felonious behavior
  • Must not have a mental or physical disability that would cause the applicant to be unsuitable to perform the duties of an auxiliary officer
