Ozone Level
Main Pollutants

There are six criteria pollutants for which the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has set national ambient air quality standards:
  • Carbon monoxide
  • Ground level ozone
  • Lead
  • Nitrogen dioxide
  • Particulate matter
  • Sulfur dioxide

Smog Levels

Shreveport's air quality is in attainment with all of these standards. Ground level ozone (also known as smog) is a concern throughout the country during the hottest months of the year. There are 2 monitors which measure and record ground level ozone in the Shreveport area:

  • One is located in Dixie, Louisiana, north of town
  • The other is located at Shreveport Downtown Airport

The monitors are maintained by the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality.
