The "Shreveport Fairness Ordinance" which prohibits discrimination was passed by the Shreveport City Council on December 10, 2013 (City of Shreveport Code of Ordinances:
Chapter 39 - Human Relations, Article I - Discrimination in Public Accommodations, Employment, and Real Estate and Housing).
The Human Relations Commission, which serves as the educational and enforcement arm for the "Shreveport Fairness Ordinance" was created by the Shreveport City Council on June 10, 2014 (City of Shreveport Code of Ordinances:
Chapter 39 - Human Relations, Article II - Human Relations Commission).
The first members of the Human Relations Commission were appointed by Mayor Cedric B. Glover and approved by the Shreveport City Council on December 9, 2014.
