Louisiana Job Employment & Training

The Louisiana Job Employment & Training Program (LaJET) was established under section 6(d)(4) of the Food Stamp Act of 1977, as amended (7)U.S.C. 2015(d)4) and was continued in the Food Stamp Program provisions of the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Act of 1996. LaJET is managed by the Louisiana Workforce Commission and funded by the Department of Children and Family Services.

The purpose of our program is to place able-bodied food stamp recipients in educational or work related activities that will increase their chances of obtaining regular employment, and thus, reduce their need for public assistance.

Caddo Parish Food Stamp recipients who are required to register to work are mandated to participate in our program as a condition of continued eligibility for receiving food stamps.
