Deferred Payments


There are instances where a customer may receive financial assistance on their water bill by spreading the amount owed over a period of time. When a customer is in arrears on their bill, a short term contract may be set up. During the term of the contract, the customer pays only a portion of the contract amount while keeping current month charges paid. This contract is negotiated with personnel in Customer Service.

The following information is entered on the customer's account when initiating a contract:


Contract Amount: __________ total amount deferred under the contract
Contract Date..: __ / __ / ____ date contract is initiated
Monthly Amount.: __________ amount which must be paid monthly in addition to regular bill
Balance........: __________ amount remaining on the contract
Paid-In-Full...: __ / __ / ____ date contract will be paid off

The amount specified in the "Monthly Amount" will automatically be added to the customer's bill when the bill is printed. At the same time, the "Balance" of the contract is reduced by the same amount. This fee will appear on the bill as "Deferred Amount:".

This service is free to any customer. By entering a deferred contract arrangement, the customer's water service is restored with a reasonable amount of money paid during a financial crisis.
