“I have been notified by Chief Henry Whitehorn that a former Shreveport Police officer has been arrested and is currently in police custody.” | Ryan Jackson was terminated by Chief Whitehorn on June 24, 2009 following an Internal Affairs investigation and, an investigation by Shreveport Police Department sex crime investigators. The investigation was launched following a complaint on April 21, 2009 that Mr. Jackson had engaged in inappropriate sexual contact with a female juvenile. Mr. Jackson was placed on administrative leave April 28, 2009. The results of the criminal investigation were forwarded to the Caddo District Attorney and the matter was presented to the Grand Jury. The Grand Jury returned a secret indictment charging Mr. Jackson with one count of molestation of a juvenile. | Mr. Jackson was a member of the department for seven years. | It goes without saying that I am repulsed, disgusted and appalled by the charge and angered that the actions of one have the potential to shed a negative light on the fine men and women of the Shreveport Police Department who truly exemplify the motto of “serve and protect”. | “We hold our officers to a high standard. I commend Chief Whitehorn for his swift action to address this issue and send a clear signal throughout the department and throughout the City of Shreveport that in no way will this type of behavior be tolerated.” | # # # |
