Shreveport public transit system manager Gene Eddy reminds residents that there will be no SporTran bus or Lift Line van service on New Year’s Day, Thursday January 1, 2009.

“Historically, we provided a reduced level of service on New Years, Memorial Day, 4^th of July and Labor Day with no service on Thanksgiving and Christmas,” says Eddy. “But this year, to assist the City in its budget cutting efforts starting January 1, 2009 we will not operate on any of the holidays.”

SporTran customer service is doing all that it can to alert passengers of the changes and is asking the media for its help in getting the word out to keep some from being stranded, especially on New Years Day.
