A new bid process will shift into high-gear beginning January 1, 2009. The New Year opens the door of opportunity for vendors and contractors looking to do business with the City of Shreveport to submit their bids/proposals, electronically.

To comply with Louisiana’s new Bid Laws the City of Shreveport has partnered with BidSync.com to electronically receive bids, quotes, proposals, and provide statements of qualifications. Information posted on BidSync.com will give vendors and contractors access to bids in every agency in the state of Louisiana that signs up with Bid Sync.

“Submitting bids electronically can save thousands of dollars in express mail fees, plan feeds/deposits, travel, postage, labor, and the cost of paper,” says Tom Mattox, purchasing agent for the City of Shreveport. “It’s a more efficient and effective way of doing business with the City.”

To take vendors and contractors through the new electronic bidding process, Mattox and Fair Share Management Assistant Karen Barnes are offering an informative Electronic Bidding Workshop Friday December 19, 2008 from 2 - 5 P.M. at Shreveport’s Independence Stadium, Sky Club Level.

Then on Friday January 9, 2009 from 3 – 5 P.M. at Shreveport’s Independence Stadium, Sky Club Level. A Bid Sync representative will take vendors step-by-step through an intense Electronic Bidding Instructional Class.

“We want to do all that we can to give our local and regional vendors the tools and skills to be successful as they take this innovative step in the bidding process,” says Barnes.

Both the workshop and instructional class are free, open to the public, and vendors are encouraged to bring laptops with wireless capability.
