| With the approach and minute-by-minute developments of Tropical Storm Gustav Shreveport Mayor Cedric B. Glover will meet with members of the City’s faith community, Friday August 29, 2008 at 1:30 PM at the Independence Stadium Sky Box. | “Shreveport is blessed with a community of faith that does not hesitate in any circumstance to step to the forefront and offer assistance to those in need, especially evacuees from New Orleans and South Louisiana,” says Mayor Glover. | “As Shreveport begins to set up shelters and prepares to become a safe haven for thousands being forced from their homes by Tropical Storm Gustav, I’m meeting with members of Shreveport’s Clergy to coordinate their outreach efforts with what the City is doing.” | Taking a pro-active approach to streamline efforts, Mayor Glover and Sandy Davis, Director of the Caddo-Bossier Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness will brief the group Friday, giving them the very latest information, locally and statewide on Gustav as well as vital contact information. |
| On the subject of providing the very latest information during Gustav, Mayor Glover announces daily press briefings at 11:00 AM at the Bossier City location of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at 1511 Doctors Drive. The daily briefings by Sandy Davis, Director of the Caddo-Bossier Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness are seven days a week and will include Saturday and Sunday. Members of the media will not receive releases announcing the daily briefings, however if additional briefings are needed reporters will be notified. | Reporters might want to ride along with Mayor Glover and Property Standards and DOS crews Friday Morning. They will meet at 8:00 AM at Bayou Pierre on Gregg Street, just past the El Chicos Restaurant. Crews are checking and clearing the City’s 45 major drainage ditches in preparation for possible local flooding due to Tropical Storm Gustav. Mayor Glover will ride with crews to several locations throughout the City. (E.
