In an effort to provide information and a solid understanding of the Haynesville Shale Project in Shreveport and Caddo Parish, Shreveport Mayor Cedric B. Glover is hosting two Public Information Meetings. | Thursday June 12th from 6-8:30 PM and Saturday June 21st from 10-12:30 PM at the Shreveport Convention Center, Mayor Glover and a panel of proficient experts including homeowners and property owners who have had first-hand experience with the issues related to gas drilling and mineral leases. | “After visiting the Fort Worth, Texas area where the Barnett Shale has been in production for more than 10 years and hearing the pros and cons from city officials and property owners, it’s important that we provide an arena to communicate and disseminate valuable information on how residents can be knowledgeable and protect themselves from companies, some who take advantage of the fact that most people have little or no experience in mineral leasing,” says Mayor Glover. | Designed as “Haynesville Shell 101”, those attending will be provided handouts with information to help them understand the terminology associated with the Haynesville Shale and general issues related to gas drilling, mineral leases, signing bonuses and royalties. | After the panel’s presentation, there will be an open question and answer period with Mayor Glover and members of the panel. There will be an opportunity for attendees to talk one-on-one with the Mayor and panel guests after the meeting. | SPAR will provide light refreshments and fun activities for children while their parents attend the meeting. | “I want to give everyone, parents, guardians and families every opportunity to attend the meetings.
