Knowing first hand, the importance of being a powerful, positive influence on the lives of youngsters, Friday, May 30, 2008 at 3:30PM at Shreveport’s Bilberry Park Recreation Center, Shreveport Mayor Cedric B. Glover will join neighborhood children to thank NFL Greats James “Shack” Harris and Doug Williams for their generous donation of computers for the City’s SPAR Centers.

Last year the NFL quarterback pioneers, Pro Bowl MVP James “Shack” Harris and Super Bowl MVP Doug Williams, through their foundation, made a powerful statement in donating to the City of Shreveport, a check to purchase 12 computers.

“They consider it a privilege to be placed in a position to positively influence the education and character of boys and girls in Shreveport and across this country,” says Mayor Glover. “In many cases, Shack and Doug are the examples these children need to influence and inspire them to become better students, better readers and to become leaders in the future. As Mayor I’m proud to be on their team.”

Children at Bilberry Recreation Center and other SPAR Centers use the computers everyday in after-school, reading and mentoring programs. Friday, Williams and Harris will get a chance meet the children who are benefiting from their powerful example of giving.
