Celebrating Women’s History Month, Shreveport Mayor Cedric B. Glover charts another first!

Thursday March 20, 2008 at 5:30 PM at the Barnwell Memorial Garden & Art Center, the Mayor’s Women’s Commission will present the H.E.R.A. Award to women whose visions and voices have improved the quality of life in the Shreveport Community through effective advocacy and leadership.

“I feel it’s important that as a City we honor and recognize the beauty, strength and historic achievements of women in our schools, our workplaces and communities,” says Mayor Glover.

Seven women, one from each City Council District, will receive the H.E.R.A. award, the first of its kind, that celebrates their many untiring and unselfish efforts in being Helpful, Effective, Responsible Advocates for women.

Each City Council member has chosen an award recipient from their district. And the Winners are:

District A – Irma Rogers

District B – Teresa Edgerton-Scott

District C – Bonne’ Summers

District D – Sister Cristina Angelini

District E – Maria Lorick

District F – Linda Scott

District G – Joyce Lawrence
