Life’s urgent and most pressing question is, what are you doing for others? – Dr Martin Luther King Jr. |
| Shreveport Mayor Cedric B. Glover is clear when asked how the City of Shreveport should celebrate the birthday of the late Dr Martin Luther King Junior. | Glover’s life of public service was inspired by the Nobel prize winning champion for civil rights. And while some observe the holiday with parades, celebrations and revelry, Glover believes a more appropriate way to honor the legacy of Dr King is “to commit to a day of service, in your neighborhood, at your school, through your church, social organization, anywhere within your community.” “Make it a day on and not a day off,” says Glover. | Wednesday January 16, 2008 at 2:30 PM in the Mayor’s Conference Room, second floor, Government Plaza Glover will join AmeriCorps and Shreveport Green Volunteers, Neighborhood Associations, students, Foster Grandparents, community groups and service organizations, Property Standards, T.B.O.N.E. Rangers and CLO’s to kick off another successful year of participation in a day of MLK Service projects on Monday January 21, 2008. |
