Shreveport’s former Interim Police Chief Mike VanSant and longtime Metropolitan Planning Commission Executive Director Charles Kirkland will be among a group of 94 city employees honored this afternoon by Shreveport Mayor Cedric B. Glover.

“I strongly believe that it’s very important to take the time to publicly say thank you to those who have given so many years of service to make this City a better place to live”, says Glover.

At this afternoon’s City Council work session at 3:00 PM employees with 20, 25 and 30 years with the City of Shreveport will be honored by their various departments. Following those honors, 16 employees will each receive Mayor Glover’s Award of Excellence for 30 years of dedication to the City of Shreveport .. a group representing 480 years of service to the City.

Following the recognition the employees and their families will be treated to lunch.
