Shreveport Mayor Cedric B. Glover and Shreveport Police Chief Henry L. Whitehorn held a joint news conference Thursday August 30, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Lee Hedges Stadium. | Speaking to members of the media, Mayor Glover and Chief Whitehorn issued an important reminder to citizens, parents, students and teenagers, of the City’s various curfew ordinances for juveniles and Shreveport’s recently launched S.I.G.N. initiative which prohibits cruising and loitering on or near the property of local businesses. | “As Caddo high schools kick off another great football season, we want this to be a fun, safe and winning school year for all Shreveport youngsters,” said Mayor Glover. | “There will be many late night games and after parties. This is just a friendly reminder that the laws concerning curfew, school attendance, truancy, loitering and safe driving laws will be strictly enforced by members of the Shreveport Police Department,” said Chief Whitehorn. “We don’t’ want to stifle your fun, we just want to keep you safe.” | Parents and youngsters are encouraged to visit the City’s website: www.ci.shreveport.la.us. Go to City Information and click on Code of Ordinances. There is also information on the Mayor’s S.I.G.N. Initiative (Stop Intrusions and Gatherings Now). |
