August 14, 2007 - Mayor Glover, Police Chief & Fire Chief Encourage Students To Have A Great School Year

Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson

As Caddo Public school students begin a new school year, Tuesday August 14, 2007 some will get a personal handshake and words of encouragement from Shreveport Mayor Cedric B. Glover, Shreveport Police Chief Henry Whitehorn and Fire Chief Kelvin Cochran.

From 7:30 AM – 8:30 AM, they will greet students, parents and teachers at Pine Grove Elementary School, 1700 Caldwell Street in the MLK Community.

“There’s a special excitement on the first day of school,” says Mayor Glover. “It’s that energy and motivation that we want the children of Caddo Parish to keep throughout the entire school year”. “More importantly, we want them to know, that as City leaders, we are committed to education and support them in their quest for education”.

Tuesday August 14th is the first day of school for all students attending Caddo Public Schools. They’ll get a break for the Labor Day holiday September 3rd.
