Shreveport Mayor Cedric B. Glover, Shreveport Police Chief Henry Whitehorn and Shreveport Fire Chief Kelvin Cochran have joined forces to launch a first of its kind citywide school uniform drive for families and children in need. | Project “Look Good & Feel Great” will depend on the eyes and ears of patrol officers, community liaison officers and firefighters to help identify parents, grandparents, guardians and families that cannot afford to buy school uniforms for their children. “How a child is dressed for school, especially at the start of school, plays an important part in how that child will perform in class,” says Whitehorn. “It gives them confidence to face their fellow students and instills within them a sense of pride”. | “Look Good & Feel Great” calls on our Community Partners, citizens, businesses, churches, neighborhood associations and civic organizations to donate new or gently worn school uniforms. All City fire stations are drop-off places for uniform donations. Financial donations are accepted and will be used to purchase uniforms, undergarments and toiletries. Thanks to Porter’s Cleaners, all used uniforms will be cleaned for free. | For more information or to make a donation call SPD CLO Officer Meosha Deal @ 401- 8588 or Captain Wayne Smith @ 673 -7383 |
