Wednesday at 1:30 PM at the Housing Authority Office 5000, Armstrong Place, Shreveport Mayor Cedric B. Glover will meet with members of the Hollywood Heights Concerned Citizens. | On the heels of Mayor Glover’s launch of Operation T.B.O.N.E. the City’s new plan of attack on Property Standards and Code Enforcement, Mayor Glover will bring with him Dr Michael Wagers, the executive director of the Police Institute at Rutgers University’s School of Criminal Justice, where he oversees problem-solving, action oriented research and technical assistance to help police departments reduce crime. | Dr Wagers’ expertise is in Community Policing, Crime Prevention, Juvenile Crime and Delinquency, Policing Strategy, Urban Crime. His innovative strategies are in place in Denver, Colorado, Los Angeles, California and New Jersey. | Dr Wagers is a member of the research team in the “Broken Windows” theory of crime control – which contends that unchecked disorder and other signs of crime lead to fear, withdrawal from public spaces and ultimately more crime and urban decay – one of the strategies adopted by Mayor Glover and credited with New York City’s crime reduction success. | “Now that as a City we have pledged to Take Back Our Neighborhoods Everyday, committed to improve the quality of life in Shreveport, I want Dr Wagers to assess our progress and future”, says Mayor Glover. |
