June 22, 2007 - OPERATION T.B.O.N.E. SHIFTS INTO HIGH GEAR

Saturday June 23, 2007 Shreveport Mayor Cedric B. Glover’s new comprehensive crime fighting, property standards and quality of life initiative Operation T.B.O.N.E. shifts into high gear.

Saturday, Shreveport’s new Property Standards Manager Jim Holt , will bring to Shreveport’s Werner Park community a force of City crews from Code Enforcement and Streets and Drainage that will clean-up rights of ways and approximately 25 adjudicated properties. “The area will be in a triangle, of Werner Park abutting the south property line of Calumet Industries, bounded by Jewella on the west , Alto Vista on the east , Clarke Boulevard on the north and Pleasant Drive on the south”, says Holt . “This is the first time this type of effort has been taken. To go ahead and get the work done with City forces, rather than sending useless certified letters to non-existent property owners concerning property that the city has taken possession of, not ownership”.

District F Councilman Joe Shyne will be in attendance. “This is the kind of effort we’ve needed for the past 10 years”, says Shyne. “We want to take back this neighborhood, revitalize it , reclaim it and make people feel good about where they live”.

Werner Park’s new Operation T.B.O.N.E. Staffers Community Liaison Officer Corporal Anthony Adams and Property Standards Inspector Robert Jackson will be on hand for Saturday’s clean-up, assigned to their new jobs Thursday by Mayor Glover.

The June 23rd City clean-up will be followed by a Neighborhood clean-up Saturday June 30, 2007.

West Morningside Neighborhood Association President Mrs. Charolette Jones will bring an energized group of residents together on the 30th and partner with Calumet Industries, to perform their own neighborhood clean-up of any occupied properties in the area that need attention.

City crews will begin their work Saturday June 23rd at 8:00 AM. Members of the Media, wanting to see the crews and city workers in action, are asked to arrive at about 9:00 AM or 9:30 AM.
