Shreveport Mayor Cedric B. Glover’s new comprehensive crime fighting, property standards and quality of life Initiative: Operation T. B. O. N. E. takes its initial step. | At 2:00 PM in the large police assembly room at SPD headquarters, Shreveport CAO Tom Dark will bring together a new force of Community Liaison Officers and Property Standards Inspectors, for an orientation before hitting the streets next month. | The Mayor’s million dollar, multi-point imitative: Taking Back Our Neighborhoods Everyday will pair CLO’s with inspectors to provide support in addressing neighborhood concerns. Assigned to each police district, the teams will be onsite points of contact between residents and police. The City’s Neighborhood Assistant Team Members will also be part of Operation T. B. O. N. E. | “This very intense and renewed focus comes after hearing from residents in each of our council districts, about crime and neighborhood blight”, says Glover. “There is research that shows a connection between substandard property conditions and crime. And we are poised and ready, to work diligently to take back our neighborhoods, everyday”. | Operation T. B. O. N. E. will also break new ground, linking the newly formed Property Standards Teams with Neighborhood Associations and City Council members of their districts. These unique partnerships will insure that common priorities and coordinated efforts will produce a unified and effective approach to maintaining safe, livable neighborhoods. |
