Thursday May 31, 2007 at 3:00 PM in the Mayor’s large conference room, Shreveport Mayor Cedric B. Glover invites members of the Media to meet the City’s first Summer Interns.

Thirteen college students have been selected to participate in Mayor Glover’s Summer Internship Program MSIP, a highly competitive program,

geared towards undergraduate and graduate students. MSIP offers these students the opportunity to serve as Administrative Interns in various City departments.

“I want to offer these soon to be young professionals, the benefit of this innovative program and give them an inside look at the inner workings of our City government”, says Glover. “Based on their experience, skills and chosen field of study, they will be assigned to a City department”. As they gain first hand knowledge, they will be in a position to offer us their ideas and a new perspective on how the City can be more progressive”.

MSIP is a paid internship, requiring a commitment of 35 hours per week, 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday. The program will run June 4^th – June 29^th 2007 and students will be required to submit weekly reports documenting their progress and goals, to the Office of the Mayor.
