Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover sends members of his economic development team to be apart of the International Conference of Shopping Centers, the world’s largest retail real estate association.

May 20-23 in Las Vegas, Nevada the City of Shreveport will be among more than 45,000 attending the ICSC, a pool of the most successful business developers and retailers in the world.

The team of Assistant CAO for Fair Share/Economic Development Sam Gilliam and Assistant to the Mayor Assistant Rick Seaton will look to attract developers to bring new shopping centers to Shreveport and retailers to breathe new life into existing shopping areas.

“Several developers contacted us before the ICSC, inviting us to private meetings with their companies while in Las Vegas, to discuss several new business ventures”, says Gilliam. “A developer from Orlando, Florida for example, is interested in building a shopping center in downtown Shreveport. at Caddo and Fannin streets and looking at prime real estate at Highway 71 and I-220.”

“We must aggressively market our City and seek out the kinds of businesses that will boost our economy, excite our citizens and improve our quality of life”, says Mayor Glover. “I’m excited about our team attending the ICSC”.

Previous visits to the ICSC are responsible for Shreveport’s new Belk and Kohls department stores and Wal-Mart expansions.
