Beginning next week, Shreveport Mayor Cedric B. Glover will give the citizens of Shreveport an opportunity to meet, up close and personal, the candidates for Shreveport Police Chief.

Thursday May 10^th from 6 to 8 PM at the Joseph B. Martin Life Center Fellowship Hall, at Lake Bethlehem Baptist Church, 2842 Martin Luther King Jr Drive, Mayor Glover will host a reception where citizens can “shake the hands and hear the plans” of those who passed the state’s civil service test to qualify and be considered for the position of police chief.

“I feel that it is critical and vital, that the citizens of Shreveport get to see, meet and hear the candidates and offer written suggestions and input, in this most important administrative appointment”, says Glover. “On the 10^th after meeting the candidates, citizens can go to the City’s website www.ci.shreveport.la.us and give me their insight as to who they feel should be the City’s next police chief”.

Shreveport’s Civil Service Board will meet Wednesday morning May 9^th at 8:30 AM to unseal the test results and release the names of the applicants that passed the test.

They will then be contacted and invited to attend the public reception on Thursday May 10^th.

A second “Meet the Candidates” reception will be held Tuesday May 15^th from 6 to 8 PM at the Banquet Hall at Summer Grove Baptist Church, 8924 Jewella Avenue.

On Wednesday May 16^th Mayor Glover will schedule and begin personal interviews with each candidate, with a goal of naming Shreveport’s new Police Chief, possibly by Monday May 21^st. “Definitely by the end of the month”, says Glover.
