There will be music in the air at several Shreveport Parks beginning Monday May 7, 2007. Under the direction of Allen Swilley, The Shreveport Metropolitan Concert Band will perform a mix of patriotic, big band and other musical favorites, each Monday evening, for seven weeks at parks around Shreveport. | “It’s a great way for families and neighborhoods to come together, relax and enjoy an evening of music presented by those in our community who want to share their love for music,” says Mayor Cedric Glover. | Monday, May 7 Columbia Park, 600 Columbia Street | Monday, May 14 Sunset Acres Park, 6700 Quillen Avenue | Monday, May 21 David Raines Park, 2920 Round Grove Lane | Monday, May 28 A.C. Residents are invited to bring their blankets, lawn chairs and picnic baskets and enjoy the music. | The Shreveport Metropolitan Concert Band was organized in 1984 and is the oldest continuously operating Community Band in Shreveport. The band has played hundreds of concerts all over the region.
