Today, Shreveport Mayor Cedric B. Glover mailed letters to Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal and New Orleans Saints Owner Tom Benson, requesting that consideration be given to expanding the New Orleans Saints Super Bowl victory celebrations to all corners of the state, including Central and North Louisiana. | “Here in Shreveport, we would like to have the opportunity to share in the ebullience that will be celebrated in Tuesday’s Super Bowl parade in New Orleans,” writes Mayor Glover. “Following Tuesday’s parade, I am prepared to host a contingent of New Orleans Saints players later in the week for a downtown parade in Shreveport, with all the trimmings and ending with a victory rally in Festival Plaza.” | Mayor Glover shared with both Governor Jindal and Mr. Benson the tremendous success of last week’s “Who Dat” rally that drew thousands of excited, exuberant and devoted fans from throughout Northwest Louisiana to downtown Shreveport and predicts that a Saints victory parade in Shreveport, would similarly draw thousands and provide citizens an opportunity to share in this historic occasion. | “This is truly a historic milestone in the history of not just the City of New Orleans, but the entire state of Louisiana,” says Glover. “It is my hope that they give Shreveport serious consideration for a history-making downtown parade and celebration with Louisiana’s Super Bowl Champions.” | -SHREVEPORT- |
