Officials from the Shreveport Coca-Cola Bottling Company and the city of Shreveport broke ground today on a new warehouse and distribution facility at the Shreve Park Industrial Campus. The Company plans to invest approximately $10 million to build the new facility from the ground up to meet its operational specifications. | “Without question I am excited to join Coca-Cola as we break ground on a new 100,000 square foot facility in Shreve Park,” says Shreveport Mayor Cedric B. Glover. “It has been amazing to watch the growth of Coca-Cola in Shreveport over more than a century, and we look forward to 100 more years of success, longevity and growth, adding local jobs and investment and being part of the larger Shreveport vision as the “Next Great City of the South.” | Since opening its doors in 1905, the Company has grown from serving one product in one package, Coca-Cola Classic in 6 ½ oz. bottles, to over 400 packages and brands including carbonated beverages, bottled water, teas, 100% fruit juices, energy drinks, sports drinks and a wide variety of other non-alcoholic beverages. Additionally, Shreveport Coca-Cola Bottling has grown to serve over 2,500 customers in 8 parishes distributing approximately 6 million cases annually of non-alcoholic beverages. | “Coca-Cola is one of the world’s most recognized brands. This $10 million investment is just another testament to the tremendous workforce we have in Northwest Louisiana. I am proud to join them for this important event and look forward to partnering with Coca-Cola, and all area businesses, as we continue to bring new jobs and prosperity to Northwest Louisiana,” said U.S. Congressman John Fleming. | The future warehouse and distribution center will be located on 15.25 acres, which includes: 89,300 square feet of warehouse space, 10, 700 square feet of office space and 10 loading docks. Approximately 170 employees will work at the new location. | “As responsible corporate citizens we have a duty to take care of the communities in which we operate. Our decision to build this wonderful facility in the city of Shreveport shows our continued dedication to our community and our quest to best serve their needs,” said Scott McCallister, sales center manager, Shreveport Coca-Cola Bottling Company. | The Shreveport Coca-Cola Bottling Company is an operating company of Coca-Cola Enterprises [NYSE:CCE], which is the world’s largest marketer, distributor, and producer of bottle and can liquid non-alcoholic refreshment. Coca-Cola Enterprises sells approximately 80 percent of the Coca-Cola Company’s bottle and can volume in North America and is the sole licensed bottler for products of the Coca-Cola Company in Belgium, continental France, Great Britain, Luxembourg, Monaco, and the Netherlands. |
