For one full month – September 9 through October 9, 2009 Shreveport-Bossier will be the site of an alien invasion. “Battle: Los Angeles” starring Aaron Eckhart (“The Dark Knight”), will begin filming in the Shreveport-Bossier area in less than three weeks. Actors, crews and stuntmen will shoot all of its battleground action scenes, high speed chases and explosions in Shreveport-Bossier. | Because the movie’s primary location scenes will be filmed in our area, Shreveport Mayor Cedric B. Glover, Bossier City Mayor Lorenz “Lo” Walker and “Battle: Los Angeles” Producers Jeffrey Chernov and Tommy Harper have called a News Conference for Thursday, August 20, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. | “This will be the most action packed film project we’ve ever had in our area,” says Arlena Acree, Director of Film, Media and Entertainment. “Producers are telling us at times it will look like our entire city is on fire, that we’ll hear loud explosions and see massive plumes black of smoke. We want to be proactive and begin communicating with the public so that for the next month everyone will be aware of what’s going on.” | Thursday’s News Conference will announce the Sony project and for the first time discuss the closure of the I-49 South overpass at Murphy Street, which is scheduled to be closed for five weeks for the filming of “Battle: Los Angeles”. | NEWS CONFERENCE | Thursday, August 20, 2009 | 3:00 P.M. | Mayor’s Large Conference Room | Second Floor Government Plaza |
