Mayor Cedric B. Glover has officially notified the Shreveport City Council members and Council Staff of his decision not to veto a council resolution to seek bids for energy leases on city property. | On Friday, July 24, 2009 members of the City Council unanimously passed a resolution to seek bids on city property in southwest Shreveport. It would be placed on the state mineral board’s agenda to give energy exploration companies an opportunity to bid. | “I have decided to allow Resolution 130 of 2009 to become effective without my signature,” says Glover. “I have been encouraged by many to veto this legislation however, I decided not to do so as I do not wish to send this City or its citizens through unnecessary and counterproductive maneuvering.
