July 21, 2009 - MAYOR GLOVER ANNOUNCES PERSONNEL CHANGES IN EXECUTIVE STAFF

Shreveport Mayor Cedric B. Glover announces today the resignation of Assistant Director of Economic Development Brady Blade Jr., and the addition of Matt Bailey who will join the Mayor’s Executive Staff effective August 5.

“After much internal debate and deep consideration, I have decided to return to my wife and children in Sweden,” said Blade. “I am thankful and still in awe of the gracious opportunity that was given to me by my lifelong friend Mayor Glover. Coming home allowed me to renew friendships and expand my horizons far beyond my career in music and entertainment. As I rejoin my family in Sweden, I will continue to be vigilant, always on the lookout for potential growth opportunities and partnerships that will benefit my hometown of Shreveport.”

Matt Bailey comes to the Mayor’s staff after serving on the staff of U.S. Senator Mary L. Landrieu, first as a Legislative Assistant in her DC office and most recently in the Shreveport office as Military Liaison. A graduate of Northwestern State University, Bailey holds a law degree from The George Washington University and a Louisiana law license. He also has served in the Louisiana National Guard and has non-profit experience. Bailey is a native of Jena, Louisiana.

“After a very rewarding experience with Senator Landrieu, I am excited about getting to work for Mayor Glover and the City of Shreveport,” says Bailey. “I’m looking forward to hitting the ground running and help meet the challenges of this community. My experience with the Senator has allowed me to gain valuable insight and familiarity with the issues facing this area.”

“I’m proud to welcome and introduce Matt to our Shreveport family and to the citizens of this great City,” says Mayor Glover. “His expertise, legislative know-how, partnerships and networking on all levels of government will be a tremendous benefit as we continue working towards our goal of making Shreveport a better city.”

“While Brady is an accomplished, talented musician and a notable giant in entertainment business, he has a deep sense of family,” says Mayor Glover. “Brady has returned to a family that needs him a little more than we do - his wife and two lovely daughters, one who’s excited and starts kindergarten this year. I know it was a tough decision.”

A member of Mayor Glover’s Executive Staff for a little over one year, Blade charted a list of projects that would greatly benefit the business community and ignite economic success. Blade took the lead launching initiatives to solidify support for Louisiana’s film industry, re-develop and re-energize Shreveport’s downtown Red River District, attracting new business to underserved communities, assisting in efforts that designated the City’s first Cultural District, developing digital media partnerships and making Shreveport the home of the legendary Lead Belly Blues and Folk Festival.
