On Wednesday, July 1, 2009 Shreveport Mayor Cedric B. Glover will continue his steadfast support of a truly heartfelt and inspirational effort launched last year by a local middle school student. | Tomorrow, Mayor Glover will again stand with12-year old Neil Nathan and his nanny Mrs. Tina Davis to proclaim the day as Caregiver’s Day in the City of Shreveport. | “It is always fitting to take the time to make this a special day of honor and recognition for those who through their work as Caregivers give so much to enrich the lives of our children and our working families,” says Mayor Glover. “I commend young Neil for thinking of this most important group of loved ones that are often overlooked. I was inspired by Neil’s letter to me last year that expressed his deep admiration for his “Nana” who has taken care of him and his brother since birth.” | “When I sent Mayor Glover my email, I didn’t think anyone as important as him would reply to a little boy, but I was wrong,” says Neil Nathan. “Mayor Glover helped and encouraged me from the beginning and I couldn’t have started this without him.” | Mayor Glover will read the proclamation at 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at the El Chico Mexican Restaurant at 4015 Fern Avenue, where Neil won the heart of the restaurant General Manager Ted Mitchell. “It is an honor to be apart of something so positive and worthwhile,” says Mitchell. “Caregivers who dine at our restaurant all day long on Wednesday, July 1 will receive a 50-percent discount in honor of their special day.” | “If you have a babysitter or caregiver of any kind, please give them a present or take them to dinner this year on the First of July. Make them feel special on this day because they deserve to be treated special”, says Nathan. |
