March 20, 2009 - SHREVEPORT MAYOR CEDRIC GLOVER WELCOMES THE EXPANDED OPERATION OF THE WORLD’S LEADING OILFIELD SERVICES COMPANY

Friday, March 20, 2009 Shreveport Mayor Cedric B. Glover and City Council Chairman Ron Webb will join Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, senior officials from Schlumberger Limited, state and local elected officials and business and economic development leaders to announce Schlumberger’s decision to locate a state of the art regional facility in southwest Shreveport.

The Announcement and Ground Breaking Ceremony is set for Friday, March 20, 2009 at 2:00pm at 2675 Valley View Drive.

“At a time when the national economy is somewhat unsettling, to receive this level of commitment from one of the world’s most solid and successful business giants is a reflection of the unwavering belief and faith in our community that is shared by the citizens of Shreveport at all levels,” says Mayor Cedric B. Glover. “The City Council’s vote on the railroad closure was critical to our efforts to locate this facility at this site. I applaud them for their willingness to listen to the facts, critically review the options and make a decision that has impact far beyond even this worthy endeavor. I also sincerely thank the Northwest Louisiana Economic Development Foundation and State officials for taking the steps necessary to make this a reality.”

With an estimated annual payroll of $30 million - $50 million Schlumberger’s $48 million Shreveport investment includes 400 new jobs over the next 3 to 4 years and will convert the existing 250,000 square foot Valley View site into a facility that will enhance the company’s regional operations with high-tech equipment and highly skilled labor.

“With the country’s current economic situation many cities cannot offer the opportunity of economic growth and jobs to its citizens, we are extremely fortunate and appreciate Schlumberger for joining hands with Mayor Glover, the City of Shreveport and the State of Louisiana to break ground on its new regional home here in Northwest Louisiana,” says Harold Turner, Chairman, Northwest Louisiana Economic Development Foundation. “This is great.”
