Shreveport Mayor Cedric B. Glover announced today that copies of a lease agreement have been delivered to Rick Fayard, local attorney for MB, Industries, L.L.C. Delivery of the lease agreements to MBI is the first step toward the eventual execution of an agreement between the City and the company for lease of the former “Beaird” facility located at 601 Benton Kelly Drive. This announcement comes on the heels of MBI beginning to accept job applications at the facility today. | MBI manufactures protective structures such as blast-resistant buildings for use in refinery blast zones. The company’s plans are to hire a number of skilled, administrative and other personnel to begin producing its product line in Shreveport. | “It goes without saying that we are delighted to get to this point,” says Mayor Glover. “Anyone who knows anything about the facility can attest to the fact that despite its outward appearance, the facility has many, many more years of useful service and should be utilized to its full potential. We look forward to MBI doing just that.” | MBI will continue to accept job applications from former employees of Beaird Industries until Friday, January 23, 2009. All other persons may apply beginning Monday, January 26, 2009. |
