What Shreveport is Doing
Hazardous Waste Collection
The Solid Waste Division, in cooperation with BFI and Shreveport Green, sponsors an annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection event, typically in September. On this day, residents are encouraged to bring all of their toxic waste to the collection site for proper disposal. Accepted Waste includes, but is not limited to:
  • Herbicides
  • Other common household hazardous materials
  • Paint
  • Pesticides
  • Used motor oil

We also accept old car batteries and used tires. The event is usually held at the State Fairgrounds.
