The Mayor’s Summer Employment Program was created to ensure that our youth are engaged in meaningful and productive activities which will guide them in the path of accomplishment and success. Students are given a chance to experience how many non-profit and governmental agencies operate and will provide a valuable work experience that will improve their competitive status when entering the labor market.

The Mayor’s Summer Internship Program
The Mayors Summer Internship Program (MSIP), is a highly competitive internship program, geared toward undergraduate and graduate students. MSIP will offer students the opportunity to serve as summer interns in various city departments. The program will run June 9 - July 25, 2014 for a total of seven weeks. This is a paid internship, requiring a commitment of 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday. The deadline to apply is May 10.
Intern Overview

Applicants must be at least a rising college Junior or graduate level student at an accredited college or university. Applicants may also be a Spring 2014 graduate. Majors in the following Academic Programs are preferred:
  • Business
  • Communications
  • Criminal justice
  • Economics
  • Energy / environmental services or management
  • Engineering
  • Finance
  • Health and human performance
  • Human resources
  • Information technology
  • Law
  • Management
  • Public administration
  • Public policy
  • Social services
  • Urban planning

Students will be assigned to a particular city department, based on their experience, skills, and chosen field of study.

Interested individuals that meet the aforementioned requirements may submit the following application materials to the mailing address:

  • Official college transcripts (mailed from your school's administration office)
