LOCAL AGENCIES

 

Shreveport Export Assistance Center (EAC) -- Companies interested in obtaining export assistance may contact the EAC, an office of the U.S. Department of Commerce/International Trade Administration. The center provides hands-on export marketing for small and medium-size companies. At the EAC, the commercial trade specialist helps a company gauge its export potential, locate overseas markets, develop sales strategies, identify agents and customers, and start successful export operations. The specialist also can answer questions about exporting (financing, shipping, export licenses, shipping documents, etc.) and introduce exporters to important contacts, such as freight forwarders, international banks, and export trading companies. U.S. Export-Import Bank -- The Ex-Im Bank is a federal agency that provides insurance for foreign receivables, working capital, loans and guarantees. Shreveport-Bossier U.S. Customs Office -- Companies involved in importing from foreign sources may clear their goods and/or obtain information from this federal agency based at the Shreveport Regional Airport. Contact: (318) 635-7873, www.customs.gov.


Ark-La-Tex Regional Export & Technology Center, Inc. -- Companies that are not currently involved in international trade and would like to explore the possibilities of exporting or importing may contact the Ark-La-Tex Regional Export & Technology Center, Inc. for information. International Trade Council - Red River Region -- The International Trade Council-Red River Region is a nonprofit, tax-exempt corporation organized to promote international trade within the North Louisiana, Southwest Arkansas and Northeast Texas region. STATE AGENCIES


Louisiana Department of Economic Development International Trade Division -- Utilizes trade shows, contacts with an extensive international network and databases to identify trade opportunities for local businesses. Assists firms in finding foreign distributors, representatives, licensees or joint venture partners/sources. Helps Louisiana companies access the Federal export loan assistance programs locally in conjunction with the Louisiana Economic Development Corporation program. Co-sponsors trade seminars with public and private entities. The seminars are designed to encourage attendees to consider the possibility of exporting.

University of New Orleans International Trade Center -- The center offers assistance to exporters and importers and conducts seminars targeted toward small companies and individuals interested in international trade. The center also provides legal counseling and banking and finance counseling in International matters. The center also offers country guides, market research and referrals. World Trade Center of New Orleans (WTC) -- The WTC is a membership organization involved in a wide range of trade promotion, educational, and legislative programs designed to enhance Louisiana's position in international trade, investment, transportation, banking, and other trade-related sectors.
