SHREVEPORT POLICE DEPARTMENT.

DUTIES: All sworn officers, of the Shreveport Police Department, shall have the legally mandated authority to enforce the applicable laws of the United States of America as well as all laws of the State of Louisiana and the City of Shreveport, within the limits established by Constitutional authority and Charter of the City of Shreveport. All applicants must complete all areas of the selection process to include; Civil Service Exam, background investigation, Applicant Interview Board, Polygraph, Psychological test, Physical Fitness Test and a drug screen. Applicants must also successfully complete a 16 week police academy, conducted at the Shreveport Regional Police Academy and the follow-up Field Training Officer program.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must be U.S. Citizens and be at least 21 years of age to take the State Civil Service Exam. There is no maximum age limit. Additionally, applicants must have a valid driver's license, have no felony convictions, and be of good moral character. Benefits: Start pay of $ 2,179.00 per month while in the police academy with an increase to $2,679.00 per month upon graduation, $ 425.00 per month increase in State Supplemental Pay after one year, additional pay for Associate, Bachelor and Advance degrees, 9 paid holidays, paid sick leave, vacation between 18 and 30 days per year (depending upon tenure) 100% college tuition paid, uniform allowance, health/dental insurance and State Retirement.
