Field Operations Division

The mission of the Field Operations Division is to operate and maintain the City's water and wastewater systems at their optimum state of efficiency and reliability as allowed by budget, manpower, and equipment allocations.

The Field Operations Division of the Office of Water and Sewerage consists of the Inflow and Infiltration (I&I) Group, the Central Supply and Warehouse Group, and the 5 Maintenance Zones. There are 136 employees in the Field Operations Division.

Shreveport is divided into five maintenance zones. Each zone Work Task Force is responsible for all maintenance work including; repairing water and sewer mains, replacing or repairing fire hydrants, replacing or repairing valves, and repairing or replacing manholes and covers within their respective maintenance zone.

The Resource Group is responsible for preventative maintenance on the sewer system. This includes jet washing the mains to unclog debris blockages, and performing video inspection to determine where sewer main breaks and failures have occurred. They also perform valve exercises for water main repair, and flush dead end water mains to maintain water quality

The Meter Reading and Repair Shop personnel are responsible for reading the meters and editing them for billing purposes. They also remove and install water meters, turn water on and off, repair meter leaks, and repair or replace meter boxes.

The Central Supply and Warehouse Group is responsible for stocking, warehousing, and issuing all materials and supplies including; dirt, sand, gravel, sod, manholes, pipe, valves and fire hydrants needed to maintain the City's water and sewer infrastructure. Additionally, it maintains and issues special motorized equipment that may be needed to accomplish a needed water or sewer main repair.
