September 20, 2012 - 12” Water Main Break Shuts Down Busy City Thoroughfare
Will remain closed for several days while city crews replace the concrete road panels
A 12" water main that runs along Hollywood Avenue broke early this morning forcing the complete closure of the street from Linwood Avenue to Bernstein Avenue. City Water Department crews have been on scene since 6:30 a.m. at the actual site of the break, the intersection of Hollywood and Adams Street and have shut off all water to the line as they work to repair the damage. Approximately 10 residential and one business structure will be affected and without water until the repairs are complete - that is expected to be around 3 p.m. this afternoon.
In order to complete to repair work, both westbound traffic lanes of Hollywood are being removed at the site. This will keep the entire thoroughfare closed to all traffic until the main is restored. Once this occurs the eastbound lanes of Hollywood are expected to reopen later this afternoon or early evening. However, the westbound lanes will remain closed for several days while city crews replace the concrete road panels.
