Overview

Shreveport and Bossier City garbage and trash collection is picked up once a week with a semi-automated waste pickup system using City provided carts.

The carts come in two sizes:

A. 96-gallon wheeled cart
B. 64-gallon wheeled cart.

If one (1) wheeled cart is not enough you may lease an additional garbage cart. The leasing fee is a one time, non refundable, fee of $50.00. The cart is the property of the City of Shreveport and should never be removed from the address it was given to.

Residential Customers

Garbage and trash must be placed at curbside in the City-provided wheeled cart by 7:00 a.m. on the day of collection and then removed from the curb by 10:00 p.m. on the day of collection.

Excess waste may be placed beside the cart in boxes, bags or cans but should not exceed seventy five (75) pounds. Tree limbs should be cut in four foot lengths and be no more than four inches in diameter then neatly stacked at the curb. If you have any bulky items such as appliances or furniture please call a day before your garbage day so that we may schedule these for collection.

Backdoor waste collection is provided free of charge to handicapped residents living alone. A doctor’s certificate is required; call Shreveport Public Works at 318-673-6300 for more information. The City provided cart must be used to containerize waste. Backdoor collection is for household garbage only; any yard waste or bulky items will have to be placed at the curbside.
