How do I report a crime or suspicious incident?

Where can I go to be finger printed and obtain a Local Law Enforcement Records Check for employment purposes?
Finger prints can be obtained at the ABO office, located at 1234 Texas Avenue, Room #64. Entrance into ABO is at the north corner of the Shreveport Police Facility. Service fee for finger prints is twenty ($20.00) dollars.
Persons wanting to obtain a Local Law Enforcement Records Check for employment purposes have to request a "Clearance Check". If a person has never been arrested in the jurisdiction of the City of Shreveport,
a clearance letter can be obtained, showing NO ARREST(S). If a person has been arrested, he/she can request a copy of the Courts Minutes (misdemeanors minutes are available through City Courts and felony minutes at available at Caddo Parish court).
How do I get a background check on someone?
Background checks are done ONLY for Military Recruiters, Government Agencies, and those businesses that have a "User's Agreement Contract", with the Shreveport Police Department, Information Services Bureau. The information will be faxed to the requesting agency, upon completion.
Background checks are not done for individual citizens. A citizen
must request a "Clearance Check". With a "Clearance Check":
We do not release any parish, state, or national
information.
If you have never been arrested
by the Shreveport Police Department, we can provide you with
a "Clearance Check" letter.
You are required to provide us with:
A copy of your photo ID (Driver's
License, or any other type of Government ID,
Passport, etc.) that must list your name and date
of birth.
A $20 fee (money order).
The fee must be received by the department before we
can process your request. We can either mail the
clearance letter to you or scan the letter and email
it to you.

area or you are unable to request a local record check in
person, please contact the AFIS Unit of the Shreveport

How can I get a copy of a report of a crime or accident that occurred in Shreveport?
If you are involved in a vehicle accident, you should allow approximately
48 hours for the report to be entered into the system before trying to
obtain a copy. You can obtain a copy of the report at:

Citizen parking is provided at metered spaces on the Murphy
Street side of the department. The Information Services Bureau is located directly in front of you as
you enter the police department entrance.
All fees shall be charged and collected in accordance with
Shreveport City Code Div. 2; Services; Section 26-106. Any fees
charged shall be collected prior to the release of information.
Crash reports are $5.00 per report that does not exceed two
pages and $7.50 per report that exceeds two pages. Offense or
incident reports are $6.00 per report that does not exceed two
pages and $2.00 per page for each page in excess of two pages
including but not limited to witness statements and supplemental

Is there a residency requirement?
There is not a requirement to live in the city of Shreveport, however,
you must be a resident of the State of Louisiana to take the Civil Service

How do I find out about Jail Bonding and Visitation?
Jail Bonding is done at the City Jail, located at 755 Hope Street.
Jail Visitation takes place of Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays
and Sundays at four different times each day. Inmates may have two visitors
each week, with the visitation day depending on where they are housed
inside the jail.

How do I find out how much the fine is for a traffic ticket?
Call the Shreveport City Courts Clerk of Court at 673-5830.
What are the juvenile curfew hours for Shreveport?
The curfew applies to juveniles under the age of 17. The curfew restricts
outdoor activities for these youth between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. each
day, except on Friday and Saturday, when the curfew begins at midnight.
The curfew ordinance is defined in the city's Code of Ordinances, Sec.

What is the law regarding child safety seats?
Children under 3 must be secured in a child restraint seat. Children
3-5 years old must be either in a child restraint seat or buckled up in
the back seat. There are certain types of vehicles and situations exempted.

What is the law concerning fireworks in Shreveport?
Fireworks--excluding bottle rockets and sky rockets -- may be sold and
discharged within the city limits during designated times of the year
only. These times are:
Noon June 25 to 10 p.m. July 5, except for the hours of 10 p.m. and 8 a.m.
Noon Dec. 15 to 10 p.m. Jan. 1, except for the hours of 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. on all days except New Year's Eve when fireworks may be sold and discharged until 1 a.m. Jan. 1.
