Many of you have been supportive in our crime fighting efforts by contributing information responsible for the arrests of many outstanding suspects; for this, we applaud your efforts. Through your involvement, you have not only assisted in arresting outstanding suspects, but protected members of your community from being potential future victims.
As you may have seen on many television programs, solving crime is a matter of assembling the right pieces of the crime puzzle. Although this may take more time than a one hour television show, the results are still the same; suspect in custody, crime solved. Many of our citizens don’t realize what they believe to be insignificant details or information could be those key pieces which may lead to an arrest of an unsolved crime.
Taking the time to get involved is the first decision one can make and making the call is critical. The information, regardless of the amount, could be the key element an investigator needs to complete the puzzle. A man once told me, “If you had the cure for cancer, would you keep it to yourself?” Of course the answer would be no, because it would not benefit society to keep that critical information to yourself. This also applies to crime information; which offers no redeeming value to the caller or the community, unless the information is shared. Sharing information benefits the caller in knowing the information submitted helped solve a crime; it was the right thing to do; it benefited the community and it could entitle the caller to a substantial cash reward.
We all have been placed in those circumstances where it is easier to look the other way, go in the other direction, or maybe convince ourselves someone else will call with some information. Regardless of which excuse you choose, they are all irresponsible and will not benefit our society. Crime Stoppers makes it even easier to get involved by keeping your identity anonymous; therefore you have no excuse not to make the call or get “on line” to submit a tip.
Remember, it is through the collection of many pieces of a puzzle, that the picture becomes clear.
Thank you for your support.
