Crime stoppers rewards are paid to a maximum of $1,000.00.

The amount of the reward depends on several factors that are entered into computer software specifically designed for this purpose.

The factors include:

the type of crime,
if the perpetrator is a fugitive,
the risk the caller is taking,
the number of arrests and the number of crimes solved

Once this information is fed into the computer, a point value is assigned and is crossed referenced into a dollar amount.

This information is presented to the board of directors and they can approve, deny, increase or reduce the suggested amount.

The board meets once a month to address this as well as other business of the program.
