Man wounded in shooting

Shreveport Police detectives are investigating a shooting that left a local man suffering gunshot wounds.

At approximately 9:20 p.m. last night, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to the 3700 block of Sumner St. relative to a shooting. Upon arrival there, officers discovered 44 year old Michael Smith suffering from two gunshot wounds to the lower body. Smith was transported to LSUHSC with what have been described as non-life-threatening wounds.

Detectives have learned that three male suspects approached the victim and demanded money at gunpoint. The victim gave the suspects an undisclosed amount of money and was then shot by one of the suspects. The suspects are described by the victim only as three black males.
