Shreveport Police to target holiday criminals The Shreveport Police Department will be using additional officers to prevent robberies this holiday season.
Officers assigned to the department’s Tactical Robbery Unit will be assisting patrol officers as they proactively target areas of Shreveport where there is traditionally heavy retail traffic during holiday periods. This effort will focus on several different facets of robbery prevention and investigation, including officers visiting with business owners and management regarding robbery prevention training, plainclothes investigators conducting surveillance or other types of undercover operations, intelligence gathering, and marked patrol units saturating areas to further dissuade any would be robbers.
Chief of Police Henry Whitehorn has initiated several special operations throughout the year to address specific crime issues and this undertaking is part of the Shreveport Police Department’s commitment to work with the community to reduce crime in our city.
Any business owner or manager that would like officers to come out and put on a free armed robbery prevention seminar for employees is urged to call the Shreveport Police Department’s Community Oriented Policing Bureau at 318-673-6950. -spd- View all SPD press releases at www.shreveportla.gov |
