Shreveport Police charge man in latest homicide

Shreveport Police have arrested a man in connection with Shreveport’s latest homicide.

Shreveport Police detectives have charged 32 year old Trimaine Adkins of the 2800 block of Crowns St. in Shreveport, with one count of second degree murder. This charge stems from the investigation into the homicide of 23 year old Jonathan Swinney, who was shot to death at the Villa Marquis Apartments in the 3700 block of Valley View Dr.

Officers arrived on scene this afternoon at approximately 2:53 p.m. and discovered Swinney suffering two gun shot wounds to the upper torso and Adkins armed with a handgun believed to be the murder weapon. The shooting appears to be the result of a custody dispute between Adkins and his estranged wife. Apparently Adkins' estranged spouse and Swinney confronted Adkins at the apartment on Valley View and a physical altercation ensued. During this physical confrontation, Adkins allegedly fired shots at Swinney, striking him twice.

Trimaine Adkins has been booked into the Shreveport City Jail and his mug shot is not available at this time.0
