FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Shreveport Police arrest three in latest homicide

Shreveport Police detectives have arrested three suspects in connection with a homicide they believe was the result of a drug deal gone bad.

At approximately 5:40 p.m. yesterday evening, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to the Wendy’s restaurant in the 6900 block of W. Bert Kouns relative to a male subject calling police reporting he had shot another male at that location. Upon arrival there, officers were unable to locate any victim or crime scene, but as they conducted their investigation, they began to receive additional information that ultimately led them to contact a female suspect, identified as Ashley Nail, at Academy Sports on Bert Kouns.

Ashley Nail was driving a vehicle that contained evidence that convinced officers that someone had indeed been seriously injured inside the vehicle. Ashley Nail subsequently led officers to the body of a male victim, identified as 23 year old Laquinton Bates, located in a wooded area just off of S. Lakeshore Dr. west of Barron's Landing.

Detectives immediately began their investigation and now believe that Laquinton Bates, Ashley Nail, and another suspect, identified as Adam Nail, conspired to commit an armed robbery of James Roach during a narcotics transaction. During the armed robbery, James Roach produced a handgun and shot Laquinton Bates. Ashley Nail and Adam Nail then transported Bates' body outside the city limits and dumped it on a dirt road off of S. Lakeshore Dr. Detectives have seized two weapons they believe were involved in this murder.

Investigators have arrested 22 year old James Roach of the 5000 block of N. Roach Cir.and charged him with one count of second degree murder. Ashley Nail, 22 years old, and Adam Nail, 24 years old, both of the 1000 block of Abbie Glenn, have been arrested and charged as principles to second degree murder. All three suspects have been booked into the Shreveport City Jail.

Detectives would like to commend the outstanding work of the Shreveport Police Department's communications officers whose assistance with this case was invaluable. Deputies with the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office also played an integral role in this investigation.
