Suspected burglar shot by business owner, arrested by police Shreveport Police have arrested a man this evening who was shot while burglarizing a Marshall St. building. At approximately 4:26 p.m. this afternoon, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to 1025 Marshall St. relative to a shooting. Upon arrival there, officers discovered 35 year old Jason Funderburk suffering from a single gunshot wound to the torso. Funderburk was transported by the Shreveport Fire Department to LSUHSC where he was rushed into surgery. Detectives have learned that the owner of the building at 1025 Marshall St., 68 year old Joseph Giglio of Shreveport, received a call from his alarm company this afternoon regarding an alarm going off in the building. Mr. Giglio arrived on scene and, with an employee, entered the building to check on the alarm. While checking his building, Mr. Giglio encountered Funderburk, who had apparently entered the structure through a hole in the roof and was burglarizing the business there. Mr. Giglio gave Funderburk commands to get on the ground, but the suspect refused and advanced toward him. Mr. Giglio at that time fired one shot at the suspect. Investigators have charged Jason Funderburk with one count of burglary. -spd- View all SPD press releases at www.shreveportla.gov |
